It's been just about a year since getting together with three of my best friends from home to go to this rally. And the rally was great- a pretty fall day watching people in costumes, waving posters, screaming at the stage whenever Colbert or Stewart whipped out a new music star as part of the show.
The rally was great- but it was mostly a convenient excuse for the four of us to get together and make bad decisions. I am still SO thankful that these guys decided Halloweekend was a great time to throw a big ol' rally, and that I have been blessed with awesome friends who drove twenty hours round-trip to be there for the experience. I am also very thankful that none of us got arrested. See below.
We went to Georgetown Cupcake.
We bought chicken hats from a hole-in-the-wall street shop.
We drank rum and carved a pumpkin (in that order!)
One of us (okay, me) decided that pumpkin is delicious and ate some of it raw. No regrets.
We saw a live version of Rocky Horror. We went wearing the chicken hats.
Some of us participated. Not going to elaborate on that one- if you've ever gotten to Rocky early, you know why.
We woke up at 7am to get a good spot on the National Mall.
We had big neon posters- "Georgians: Keeping Deere Alive."
Some of us got trapped behind a metal barricade during the huge movement of people after the event.
We went to a couple of Halloween parties at Georgetown- I got to introduce my friends to Brown House.
One of us ran down the street after a cab while dressed as the Energizer Bunny.
We lost her for awhile, and then found her- but not before I asked these two guys from my freshman dorm, "Have you seen a girl running down this street after a cab? She's dressed as the Energizer Bunny..."
It was a weekend for the record books - can't believe all these memories just turned a year old!
