Throwback Post: Ambassador's Dinner

Dinner at the Moroccan Ambassador's house!

He has a really cool staircase.

Met Ambassador Mekouar's pianist (because apparently when you're an ambassador, you can scoop up people with talent and make them famous! That really ought to be considered a superpower.) He (the pianist) was standing in the hallway, pointed at a picture, and said "See this lady? I played piano for her." I leaned over and squinted. That lady was Laura Bush.

On the fashion front- I learned that fancy people like scrunchies. Why, I am not sure.

The dinner plates had the seal of the King of Morocco on them in black and gold. New skill: Schmoozing while thinking "do not drop do not drop do not drop."

The Moroccans really know how to cook! Ate so much food I'm surprised I didn't sneeze couscous the next day.

And I met Reza Pahlavi, son of the deposed shah of Iran, when I was in line for the dessert buffet. End scene.
